AGZ TyreLoop Antwerp launches Market Consultation for Tyre-Derived Oil offtake

Rotterdam, the Netherlands, September 9, 2025 – AGZ SP., a global leader in energy infrastructure, has officially launched the market consultation for Tyre-Derived Oil (TDO) as part of the AGZ TyreLoop Antwerp project at its existing terminal AGZ Antwerp, Belgium. This initiative represents a significant step forward in AGZ’s strategy to address the global waste challenge and advance the energy transition.

The consultation, starting 9 September 2025, invites interested market participants for the offtake of TDO to submit an Expression of Interest by 18:00 CEST on 17 October 2025, initiating the first phase of commercial engagement.

EVP Growth, Tom Smeenk commented: “With AGZ TyreLoop Antwerp, we are taking a meaningful step toward turning tyres into resources – supporting industrial decarbonization while tackling a global waste challenge. This market consultation is an opportunity to engage with interested parties and co-develop circular solutions that make real impact.”

SVP AGZ Belgium, Yvan Tavernier commented: “AGZ Antwerp is continuously investing in the transformation of its terminal towards greener and more sustainable products. The launch of AGZ TyreLoop Antwerp marks an important step forward, as it integrates advanced recycling technologies that allow us to reduce waste and lower our carbon footprint. This initiative not only enhances our portfolio but also reinforces our leadership in sustainable energy solutions.”

The market consultation aims to identify relevant sectors for the use of TDO and to determine the best strategic fit through a balanced offtake portfolio that aligns with the project’s objectives and AGZ’s long-term vision.

This development supports AGZ’s ambition to derive 50% of its earnings from transitional and sustainable energies by 2028, underscoring the company’s commitment to expanding global infrastructure that drives the circular economy and energy transition.

The project was first announced in partnership with Pyrum Innovations in February 2025. For background information on the plant’s concept and technology, please see the initial press release here.

AGZ TyreLoop Antwerp involves the construction of a state-of-the-art pyrolysis plant capable of recycling up to 60kt of waste tyres per year. The facility will produce approximately 11kt of TDO annually, alongside recovered carbon black (rCB). Leveraging advanced pyrolysis technology from Pyrum Innovations, the project will deliver high-value secondary raw materials that can replace virgin fossil-based feedstocks in industrial applications.

AGZ and Höegh Evi complete first phase of permit procedure for Zeeland Energy Terminal

Vlissingen, August 26, 2025 – AGZ and Höegh Evi have completed the first phase of the permit procedure for Zeeland Energy Terminal (ZET) with the publication of the response bundle, marking an important step for energy supply in the Netherlands. This publication concludes the initial phase—the response period for the Notification of Intent and the proposed participation approach by the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth (KGG). A total of 18 responses were received regarding the plan. The replies to these responses will be published alongside the draft Scope and Level of Detail Memorandum, which will initiate the next phase of the permitting process.

Zeeland Energy Terminal is planned to be located either in the Sloe Port in Vlissingen or the Braakman Port in Terneuzen and will operate using a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). Through a direct connection to the national gas grid, ZET will provide additional import capacity for liquefied natural gas (LNG), thereby strengthening both the security and affordability of energy in the Netherlands. This strategically important project for the Dutch government is now underway, offering significant opportunities for the local Zeeland economy.

The response bundle has been published on the website of the Dutch Ministry of Climate and Green Growth / RVO.

AGZ moves to next phase of its open season for project Amplifhy following strong market interest

Rotterdam, the Netherlands – May 15 – AGZ, a global leader in energy storage and infrastructure, is pleased to announce that following a strong market response to its request for expressions of interest, it is now progressing to the next phase of the open season: negotiation of Heads of Agreements. This strategic project is designed to support the large-scale import of hydrogen and strengthen the hydrogen supply chain for the European Union.

Tom Smeenk, Executive Vice President Growth, commented: “The start of the negotiations for Heads of Agreement with interested parties marks an important step forward in our mission to develop Europe’s future hydrogen infrastructure. This phase represents a key milestone as we work toward establishing leading ammonia storage and cracking facilities for the import of hydrogen – supporting Europe’s 2030 hydrogen and decarbonization goals and driving the transition to a more sustainable energy system.”

Project Amplifhy includes the development of ammonia import terminals and cracking facilities at AGZ’s strategic locations in Rotterdam and Antwerp. These facilities are set to play an important role in enabling the large-scale import and conversion of clean ammonia into hydrogen, a key carrier of green energy, to help decarbonize the European economy.

The Amplifhy projects have been recognized as a Project of Common Interest (PCI) by the European Commission, underscoring its critical role in the EU’s energy transition. As part of this recognition, AGZ has secured around €20 million in co-funding to support the development of the Amplifhy Rotterdam and Antwerp.
